RunTru 2.5 Ton Heat Pump & Air Handler Systems (R-454B)

Compare every RunTru by Trane 2.5 ton heat pump and air handler system. Each one pairs an A5HP R-454B heat pump (30,000 BTU/h, 14.3 SEER2) with a matched air handler. A 2.5 ton system typically suits about 1,250–1,500 sq ft.

A5AHV or A5AHC: which air handler?

• A5AHV variable-speed: the blower ramps up and down for quieter airflow, steadier temperatures and better humidity control. These systems include a BAYHTR electric heat kit sized for the system.
• A5AHC convertible: a multi-position air handler that installs upflow, downflow or horizontal. It's the lower-cost option; add a heat kit if you need backup heat.

Frequently asked questions

Is 2.5 ton the right size?

A 2.5 ton system usually fits about 1,250–1,500 sq ft, but climate, insulation and ductwork change the answer. Use a Manual J load calculation or our Sizing Estimator.

Is RunTru made by Trane?

Yes. RunTru is a brand of Trane Technologies.

Do I need a heat kit?

In mild climates, often not. Where winters drop below freezing, an electric heat kit provides backup heat when the heat pump alone can't keep up.

What refrigerant do these systems use?

R-454B, the lower-GWP refrigerant replacing R-410A. It's an A2L refrigerant, so install to current codes.

Do you ship to my state?

We ship to all 48 contiguous states by freight. Licensed contractors can get trade pricing through our contractor portal.
