    Shop RunTru by Trane heat pumps and complete split heat pump systems that use R-454B refrigerant. Buy the A5HP outdoor heat pump on its own, or as a matched system with an A5AHV variable-speed or A5AHC multi-position air handler, with or without a BAYHTR electric heat kit (5–17 kW). Sizes run from 1.5 to 5 ton.

    A heat pump heats and cools with one outdoor unit, so it can replace both an air conditioner and a furnace. It's the all-electric choice for homes with ductwork.

    Heat pump only, or a complete system?

    • A5HP heat pump condenser: replace the outdoor unit when your indoor air handler is already R-454B rated.
    • Heat pump + air handler system: replace both halves together with a matched pair. Choose A5AHV for variable-speed comfort and quieter airflow, or A5AHC for value.
    • Systems with a heat kit: add electric backup heat for the coldest days.

    Why R-454B?

    R-454B is the lower-GWP refrigerant that replaces R-410A in new residential systems. It's an A2L (mildly flammable) refrigerant, so it must be installed to current codes. Pair an R-454B heat pump only with an R-454B-rated air handler or coil.

    Is RunTru made by Trane?

    Yes. RunTru is a brand of Trane Technologies, built as a dependable, lower-cost alternative to Trane's flagship lines.

    Can I use my existing R-410A air handler?

    No. An R-454B heat pump needs an R-454B-rated indoor unit. If your air handler is R-410A, buy a matched RunTru system instead of the condenser alone.

    Can I reuse my line set?

    Often, if it's the right size and in good condition. Your installer should verify and flush it before connecting an R-454B system.

    Do I need a heat kit?

    In mild climates, often not. In areas with freezing winters, an electric heat kit gives backup heat when the heat pump alone can't keep up.

    Do you ship RunTru equipment to my state?
